Connect NSE/BSE data to Claude: a sourced Infosys workflow

What do you need before connecting?

Use a Claude client that supports remote MCP connectors. Account plans, workspace controls and client versions can change which connector options you see. Check Anthropic’s current connector guide rather than assume a menu exists in every client.

Claude’s remote connector and a local desktop extension are different paths. Use the remote connector for the hosted server. For the full setup and client-specific help, use the Claude guide linked below.

How do you add the remote server?

In Claude, open Settings, then Connectors, and add a custom connector with the endpoint below. Complete the OAuth sign-in, then enable the connector in a new chat. You do not need a broker account for DalalOS.

If your workspace hides custom connectors, ask its admin to enable the service. If sign-in loops, retry from the connector settings and check the endpoint. Never paste an API key or OAuth token into a chat to debug access.

What should your first prompt ask?

A prompt should state the company, statement basis, period, units and source checks. Ask Claude to preserve null values and warnings. A fluent answer without a tool result does not prove that a connection works.

In our 2 November 2026 tool run, get_financials returned Infosys consolidated annual periods ending March 2022 through March 2026. The response source was bse-xbrl, the cache timestamp was 25 October 2026 at 21:02:11 UTC, and stale was true. These are observed MCP results, not a recorded Claude UI test.

Use the connected MCP to resolve Infosys. Call get_financials with query="INFY", period_type="annual", limit=5. Show revenue and net income for each period in INR crore. Include statement_type, source, filed_at, cached_at and stale. Keep missing values blank and explain any limits. Do not give an investment recommendation.

How do you check Claude’s answer?

Compare the answer with the raw response, not with the model’s recollection. For the period ending 31 March 2024, the tool returned revenue of INR 1,536,700,000,000. Dividing by 10,000,000 gives INR 153,670 crore. Infosys’s FY2024 annual report also lists revenue of INR 153,670 crore.

Keep three dates apart: the period end describes the accounts; filed_at records the filing timestamp; cached_at describes the cached response. The tool did not include a timezone on this period’s filed_at value. Do not add one by guess.

A stale response can still help check a historical example, but it is not proof that all recent filings are present. Check freshness before relying on the latest period. If a call fails or returns pending, say so and follow the tool’s retry guidance.

What can go wrong after setup?

If Claude cannot see the tools, check that the connector is enabled in that chat. If a company name is ambiguous, resolve it with search_stocks and use the returned symbol or ISIN. If a response lacks a field, do not fill it from memory.

End-of-day prices are not a live exchange feed. Annual and quarterly financials are not interchangeable. A successful connection does not remove the need to read the source or make an independent research judgment.
