MCP for Indian company financial statements: sources and limits

Which MCP providers say they cover financial statements?

DalalOS exposes get_financials for structured company financials. Tapetide’s public docs also list annual and quarterly financial statements; we checked the docs on 2 November 2026, without an authenticated tool test. Advertised support alone does not establish equal history, field coverage, freshness or extraction accuracy.

The DalalOS calls below were observed on 2 November 2026. We did not run authenticated financial calls against other providers. The existing provider comparison carries the wider selection rubric.

How do you request annual rather than quarterly results?

Use period_type="annual" for annual accounts and period_type="quarterly" for quarter results. Resolve the company first if its name or symbol is ambiguous. Inspect statement_type in the response: the observed Infosys result was consolidated. Do not relabel it standalone or mix it with a standalone series.

Our annual call returned five Infosys periods ending March 2022 through March 2026. The quarterly call returned periods ending June and September 2026. Both envelopes named bse-xbrl as source and marked the response stale, with cached_at 2026-10-25T21:02:11+00:00.

Why can quarterly cash flow be missing?

In the observed quarterly response, cash_flow_available was false for both displayed periods. Annual rows carried cash_flow_available=true. Follow that field and the tool’s cash-flow note; do not treat absent cash flow as zero or invent quarterly cash flow by dividing annual cash flow by four.

Balance-sheet availability has its own flag. A statement may contain an income statement while lacking a balance sheet for that period. A null field, a missing field and a reported zero carry different meanings.

How do you trace a number to a filing?

Keep the period’s source and filed_at alongside the envelope’s cached_at and stale flag. Infosys FY2024 revenue was INR 1,536,700,000,000 in the observed response, or INR 153,670 crore. The issuer’s FY2024 annual report gives the same revenue figure.

The tool’s period source identifies the source class; it is not a PDF page citation. The stored evidence includes the exact tool calls and response fields. When a sentence needs a document quote or page, open the underlying issuer report or use a filing tool that returns document evidence.

Some newly listed companies can have pre-listing history sourced from a DRHP rather than a post-listing XBRL filing. Preserve each period’s source and any mixed-source note. Do not describe every historical row as an exchange-filed annual statement.

When should you use filing extraction instead?

Use get_stock_events to find a disclosure and its news_id, then get_filing_extract for that filing. A PDF cache miss can return pending and queue work. Respect retry_after_seconds, and preserve not_queued or error results rather than claim that extraction succeeded.

For several filings, use get_filing_extracts with up to ten news_ids and poll the returned pending list after the shared retry interval. Results filings can point you back to get_financials or get_financial_trends: a PDF summary is not the structured financial-statements path.

We did not run a PDF extraction for this example. The observed evidence covers annual and quarterly structured financials only. Extraction status, pages and quotes must come from a separate successful filing call.

What should you check before comparing companies?

Match the fiscal period, annual or quarterly basis, statement scope, currency and units. Check for restatements and template differences. Banks, NBFCs and insurers can use interest-income fields rather than an industrial-company revenue template.
