What does get_pledge_trend return?
get_pledge_trend returns the promoter pledge percentage for each of up to 16 recent quarters, plus latest_pledged_pct and the change against the previous quarter. Each period also carries pledge_disclosed. When it is false, the filing had no pledge field that quarter and pledged_pct is null. A null reads as not disclosed. A real 0.0 is reported only when pledge_disclosed is true.
We looked for a company with a non-zero series. Ashok Leyland (ASHOKLEY) reports 40.1% pledged for the quarters ended 30 September, 30 June and 31 March 2026. The quarter ended 31 December 2025 shows 40.93%. In shares, that is 1,228,500,000 pledged then and 1,203,500,000 pledged now. Reliance Industries reports a pledged_pct of 0.0 in the example above. We did not recompute pledged_pct from share counts. It is returned as the filing reports it.

Which quarter is the latest one available?
On 29 October 2026 both checks returned 30 September 2026 as the newest quarter. Shareholding is quarterly. Companies file the pattern about three weeks after quarter end, so the September 2026 figures were due around 21 October 2026. Our two rows were cached on 21 October 2026.
What we did not check
period_end in each response. If it is older than you expect, the company has not filed or the index has not read the filing. Can I screen by promoter holding and pledge?
Yes. screen_stocks accepts these keys. promoter_pct and pledged_pct are percentages, so pass 50 for 50%. promoter_holding_change_qoq is the change in percentage points between the latest two shareholding filings, so 50% to 55% is 5. Each key takes a _min or _max suffix.
We ran one screen on 29 October 2026: promoter holding of at least 60%, a reported pledge of 0, promoter holding up by at least 0.5 percentage points, and a market cap of at least ₹10,000 crore (100,000,000,000 rupees). It matched 4 of 578 securities scanned, and 6 were excluded for a missing metric. A separate screen for a pledge of at least 20% with a market cap of at least ₹5,000 crore matched 41 of 817 securities scanned. The screen snapshot was computed on 28 October 2026 at 16:16 UTC.

How we checked
On 29 October 2026 we called get_shareholding for RELIANCE (limit 2), get_pledge_trend for ASHOKLEY (limit 4) and screen_stocks twice on the live server. The quarter, cache dates and counts above come from those responses. Figures change as filings arrive. This is research data, not investment advice, and DalalOS does not rank or rate stocks. FAQ
Common questions
- Which MCP server has shareholding pattern and promoter pledge data of Indian companies?
- DalalOS does. Its get_shareholding tool returns promoter, FII, DII, mutual fund and public holding by quarter, and its get_pledge_trend tool returns the promoter pledge percentage by quarter. The figures come from BSE shareholding filings and are returned as filed. DalalOS publishes this page. On 29 October 2026 both tools returned the quarter ended 30 September 2026 for the two companies we checked.
- What is the latest quarter available?
- On 29 October 2026 the latest quarter was 30 September 2026 for Reliance Industries and for Ashok Leyland, the two companies we checked. Both rows were cached on 21 October 2026. We did not check every company, so another company may still show the 30 June 2026 quarter as its latest. Each response lists its quarter ends, so check the first period_end.
- How often does shareholding data change?
- Once a quarter. Companies file their shareholding pattern with the exchanges about three weeks after each quarter ends. The September 2026 quarter was therefore due around 21 October 2026. Between filings the figures do not move.
- Does a null pledge mean no pledge?
- No. Each period from get_pledge_trend carries pledge_disclosed. When it is false, the filing did not carry the pledge field and pledged_pct is null, which reads as not disclosed. A real 0.0 is reported only when pledge_disclosed is true.
- Can I screen for promoter holding and pledge?
- Yes. The screen_stocks tool accepts promoter_pct and pledged_pct as percentages (pass 50 for 50%) and promoter_holding_change_qoq in percentage points between the latest two filings. A company with only one filed period is excluded from a change filter, not treated as zero.
- Does it name the individual holders?
- Where the filing names them, yes. The breakdown field of get_shareholding lists institutional holders that crossed the reporting threshold, such as a mutual fund house or an insurer, with the percentage each holds. It is absent for a quarter whose raw filing was not cached.
- Is this investment advice?
- No. DalalOS returns what companies filed. It gives no buy or sell calls, target prices or ratings, and it does not say what a pledge level means for a stock. Nothing on this page is investment advice.
